ß The personal aspect.
Until mid-third century BC C. about the Romans shaved their beards or cut their hair. Those who were mourning carelessly allowed to grow beards and hair.
There were many female hairstyles. The girls collected the hair in a knot or braids. The married women preferred hairstyle. They also used false and dyes to change color of hair.
The gown was the quintessential Roman toga. At first the well dressed men and women, but later came to be used only by men. The toga was a semicircle of cloth, thick in winter and summer fine, very complicated to put on and that left his right arm free. According to the ornaments to wear the gown, received various names. The dressing gown and not slaves or commoners.
Under the cloak, and a knee-length, wearing the robe, which girded with a belt and adorned with a band.
Women generally wore a robe that reached to her feet. The tunic was usually made from wool, cotton or flax, depending on the season. On the robe wore the stole, the dress itself. When the woman left the house was covered with a blanket (Pallas), which left them exposed right arm.
Women tended to use a fan.
The footwear for both men and women, consisted of sandals, clogs or shoes. The only difference was the color and the tanning of the skin used for clothing
